What You Need To Know About Clear Tarps

There are some things in the world that we cannot control. Weather is one of them. Sometimes it can be unpredictable as well as cruel. It is for this reason that it is important for people to look for ways to protect their valuable possessions from weather factors such as rain, harmful sun rays and snow. The best way to do this is by using clear tarps to cover them.
Unlike the other types of covers, these ones are transparent. Therefore, they are able to let in light from the outside. This makes them ideal for use in many situations.
The clear tarps are mostly applied in agriculture. If you are looking for a way to protect young or delicate plants, then the clear tarps are probably the best option. This is because they allow sunlight in while protecting the plants from any harsh weather factors.
Since they are see through, they can also be used as side covers for canopies or tents. They are also common in flea markets, where they are used to cover goods that are being sold. Not only are you able to protect your possessions, but also monitor them when using this type of tarpaulin.
When camping, they also come in handy in creating structures through which you can view the stars from. Though, this is not restricted to when you are on an outdoor camp. You can also get to view the stars from the comfort of your backyard, by creating a tent using transparent tarpaulin.
There are two types that are available in the market. The heavy duty poly tarp is about 1/8 inch thick and weighs less. This makes it easy to handle. The PVC clear tarps are the second type and are almost completely transparent. Though, they are a little bit thicker than the heavy duty ones.  The clear tarps are essential for greenhouses and backyard growers wanting to get an extra yield during the winter months. Many people that live in apartments with limited balcony space will use clear tarps to enclose a portable type greenhouse to grow small vegetables or fruit.

Some key points about clear tarps:
  1. The polyethylene clear tarps are cheaper than the clear vinyl tarps. Clear vinyl lasts a bit longer and handles abrasions better.
  2. The poly cleared tarps are not completely clear. There is mesh nylon strands embedded into the material to reinforce. The clear vinyl tarps do not need this type of reinforcement.
  3. Grommets are set every 18 inches around the perimeter of most clear tarps. This enables the tarp to tie onto a structure.  It is important to make sure the cold air stays out as much as possible when using clear tarps for greenhouse purposes.
  4. The price of polyethylene as well as vinyl goes up when the cost of oil goes up so be prepared for higher costs if the prices of oil are high.
